50 years since the formation of the Company “Figli d’Arte Cuticchio”
Technology related to the means of reproduction and transmission of images has reached astonishing levels of development in just a few years. Our Company, whenever possible, has always tried to document its activities, but certainly in the 1970s and 1980s it was unthinkable to be able to shoot performances with the quality and means available today. However, we believe that some of the materials in our archives have extraordinary historical and documentary value, which can give insight into the history and evolution of the artistic journey of Mimmo Cuticchio and the Opera dei Pupi. Therefore, we thought of making them available to the public by organizing a real streaming show.
These are video documents that testify to the work of renewal of the tradition carried out by Cuticchio over a period of fifty years. Shows that, by moving the Opra from the small to the big stage, have given a vital impulse to tradition by removing it from folklore and renewing it in the name of contamination with other languages, from music to figurative arts. A multi-year commitment that has ferried the Opera dei Pupi, while respecting the fundamentals of tradition, into contemporaneity.
